"We hold our heads high, standing tall but not standing still. Smiling, though faced with obstacles. Independent, yet deriving strength from togetherness. We would walk forever to overcome breast cancer, though the point of our journey is to shorten the road. Our song is filled with the weight of urgency, yet lifted by the lightness of joy. In the garden of our souls, commitment is tended by optimism. Surprise us in the quiet of our thoughts and you would find us thinking about victory, even when no victory is in sight. Because we are always looking ahead, to a place of health and long life--to the time we all dream of when we may cease our walking and begin to dance."

I Guess This is Really Happening!

Suddenly, and finally, this feels very real. I can't believe that 48 hours from now, Mom and I will have completed the first day of the 3-Day. I think maybe because this has been lying ahead of us for so long, I've gotten used to the fact that the 3-Day was always at some point in the future. And now the future is HERE! Yikes!

I am so excited. And nervous. And right now, I feel very scatter-brained and as if there are many things to do between now and Friday morning. Luckily, I managed to take a vacation day from work tomorrow. So while I feel I should be cleaning and vacuuming to get ready for Mom's arrival (not to mention doing my packing), I think I may go sit on my couch for a while.

I am behind on some of my thank you postings, which I will try to get caught up on before we leave. But in the meantime, I wanted to let you know that we have now raised SEVEN THOUSAND, TWO HUNDRED AND EIGHTY-ONE DOLLARS!! Thank you, wonderful sponsors!
