"We hold our heads high, standing tall but not standing still. Smiling, though faced with obstacles. Independent, yet deriving strength from togetherness. We would walk forever to overcome breast cancer, though the point of our journey is to shorten the road. Our song is filled with the weight of urgency, yet lifted by the lightness of joy. In the garden of our souls, commitment is tended by optimism. Surprise us in the quiet of our thoughts and you would find us thinking about victory, even when no victory is in sight. Because we are always looking ahead, to a place of health and long life--to the time we all dream of when we may cease our walking and begin to dance."

. . .Cold In the Summer

For nearly as long as I can remember, I always get a cold when the season changes from spring to summer. I have no idea why this is so, and it always seems strange to me to be sick with a cold when it's so warm outside. This year, the appearance of my cold decided to line up almost exactly with the arrival of the summer solstice.

What this means in terms of my training for the 3-Day Walk is that there has been NO training this weekend. I feel like a blob, but since I'm having problems breathing and since I seem to get winded just walking from the couch to the kitchen to pour another glass of orange juice, I suppose it's a good thing to take a break. But hopefully not for long. If I feel up to it, my plan is to walk home from work tomorrow evening. We'll see. Stay tuned. And Happy Summer!

Hi Diana, I've been thinking about you and hoped you were feeling better. Sometimes your body just says "um, no more, take a break" so Take a Break!!! Big hugs, Belle, Gary & Samantha
