"We hold our heads high, standing tall but not standing still. Smiling, though faced with obstacles. Independent, yet deriving strength from togetherness. We would walk forever to overcome breast cancer, though the point of our journey is to shorten the road. Our song is filled with the weight of urgency, yet lifted by the lightness of joy. In the garden of our souls, commitment is tended by optimism. Surprise us in the quiet of our thoughts and you would find us thinking about victory, even when no victory is in sight. Because we are always looking ahead, to a place of health and long life--to the time we all dream of when we may cease our walking and begin to dance."

More Time to Walk!

Last night, I had a final exam in my Arabic class, and now this session of Arabic is done. What does this have to do with the 3-Day Walk?

Well, rather than taking another class over the summer, I've decided that my brain needs a break. This most recent class was the most intense yet (Intermediate Arabic), and I am so happy to have some time off. Not taking class over the summer will give me at least 15 or 20 extra hours each week. It's time to put the Arabic books back on the shelf (or at least take them out of my backpack!) and tie on my sneakers for some additional walking. Ana s'imshee al-amyal katheeran hatha al-sayf . . .I will walk many miles this summer!
