"We hold our heads high, standing tall but not standing still. Smiling, though faced with obstacles. Independent, yet deriving strength from togetherness. We would walk forever to overcome breast cancer, though the point of our journey is to shorten the road. Our song is filled with the weight of urgency, yet lifted by the lightness of joy. In the garden of our souls, commitment is tended by optimism. Surprise us in the quiet of our thoughts and you would find us thinking about victory, even when no victory is in sight. Because we are always looking ahead, to a place of health and long life--to the time we all dream of when we may cease our walking and begin to dance."

A New Thank You!

Mom and I are lucky enough to now have received almost $1600 in donations! Tonight, I'd like to thank my good friend, Rebecca. We've known each other for less than a year, but I can already tell that she'll be a friend for life.

Rebecca and I first met last July, in employee orientation for new hires at the Department of the Treasury, where we both work. We ended up sitting next to each other during that endless orientation session, and we had lunch in the middle of the day. As it happened, we had lunch later that week, and we've had lunch once each week since then.

In the weeks and months since that first day at Treasury, we've become friends, and I'm so happy that we ended up together at orientation last summer. For her donation today, for our wonderful weekday lunches, and for our friendship, I'm so appreciative!
