"We hold our heads high, standing tall but not standing still. Smiling, though faced with obstacles. Independent, yet deriving strength from togetherness. We would walk forever to overcome breast cancer, though the point of our journey is to shorten the road. Our song is filled with the weight of urgency, yet lifted by the lightness of joy. In the garden of our souls, commitment is tended by optimism. Surprise us in the quiet of our thoughts and you would find us thinking about victory, even when no victory is in sight. Because we are always looking ahead, to a place of health and long life--to the time we all dream of when we may cease our walking and begin to dance."

A New Donation

Thanks to my friend, Dolores, who is the mom of my college friend, Tom, we have now raised $1325, which means that Mom and I are almost a quarter of the way to our goal of $6000.

I first met Dolores shortly after Tom and I graduated from William & Mary. During the the time that I was trying to find a job in the DC area, Dolores and her husband, Mike, graciously opened their home to me, providing a comfortable bed and delicious meals upon several occasions, as I traveled back and forth between New Jersey and here for various interviews. Once I moved down here, Dolores often invited me over for dinner, and I've always felt so lucky to have her in my life. Breast cancer has touched Dolores's family very closely, and her contribution means a great deal to me and to Mom. Thank you, Dolores!
