"We hold our heads high, standing tall but not standing still. Smiling, though faced with obstacles. Independent, yet deriving strength from togetherness. We would walk forever to overcome breast cancer, though the point of our journey is to shorten the road. Our song is filled with the weight of urgency, yet lifted by the lightness of joy. In the garden of our souls, commitment is tended by optimism. Surprise us in the quiet of our thoughts and you would find us thinking about victory, even when no victory is in sight. Because we are always looking ahead, to a place of health and long life--to the time we all dream of when we may cease our walking and begin to dance."

A Change In Plans

When I got into work this morning after my lovely four-day weekend, I discovered that I'm scheduled to give a high-level briefing on Thursday afternoon. What, you may ask, does this have to do with the Walk?

Well, as a result of needing to spend time preparing for the briefing, I've opted to bow out of tomorrow evening's scheduled training walk. There is a chance that I could be ready to leave work in time for the 6:00 11-miler, but I'm not 100% sure. So, I called the 3-Day Walk Office today and changed my RSVP from "yes" to "no." I will hope to take part in another official training walk sometime soon. In the meantime, I'll keep up with my own, personal, unofficial training walks!
