"We hold our heads high, standing tall but not standing still. Smiling, though faced with obstacles. Independent, yet deriving strength from togetherness. We would walk forever to overcome breast cancer, though the point of our journey is to shorten the road. Our song is filled with the weight of urgency, yet lifted by the lightness of joy. In the garden of our souls, commitment is tended by optimism. Surprise us in the quiet of our thoughts and you would find us thinking about victory, even when no victory is in sight. Because we are always looking ahead, to a place of health and long life--to the time we all dream of when we may cease our walking and begin to dance."

Feeling Hopeful

I woke up this morning to find that my feet are MUCH less painful than they were yesterday, so I am feeling hopeful that these pesky blisters won't be bothering me for too much longer. I think I may even be feeling good enough to walk home from work again tonight, but I'll save that decision for later in the day.

In the meantime, I thought I'd tell you about one of the reasons I love walking so much at this time of year: FLOWERS! They are everywhere at this time of year. The humid DC heat, as difficult as it can be to endure, seems to provide these beautiful flowers with just the environment they need to thrive. Here is a recent picture I took of some pretty snapdragons--and they are breast cancer pink, no less! :)
