"We hold our heads high, standing tall but not standing still. Smiling, though faced with obstacles. Independent, yet deriving strength from togetherness. We would walk forever to overcome breast cancer, though the point of our journey is to shorten the road. Our song is filled with the weight of urgency, yet lifted by the lightness of joy. In the garden of our souls, commitment is tended by optimism. Surprise us in the quiet of our thoughts and you would find us thinking about victory, even when no victory is in sight. Because we are always looking ahead, to a place of health and long life--to the time we all dream of when we may cease our walking and begin to dance."

Falling Off the Walking Wagon?

If you are following closely, you will have noticed that my walk amounts for the past two days are LOW! They total what I usually like to try to walk in one day. But between yesterday evening's craziness and a date I had tonight with my good friend, Sammie, I've had to cut back for the past couple of days.

I think that's probably just as well, as the annoying blisters I've had on my heels for the past few weeks started bothering me after walking so many miles in this hot weather. Plus, it's pouring rain with lots of thunder and lightning right now, so it's just as well I'm safe and dry inside.

Now it sounds like I'm rationalizing my low mileage! Once these storms clear out, I believe that the weather should be somewhat cooler than it has been for the last several days. So it will be time to walk many miles once again!

And here, courtesy of Belle, is a picture of Sammie and me from this evening. While Belle and Gary celebrated their annual anniversary dinner at Rio Grande, Sammie and I got to play. We sang, we danced, we read books, and we even made Belle and Gary an anniversary card! What a fun evening. Thanks, Sammie!
