"We hold our heads high, standing tall but not standing still. Smiling, though faced with obstacles. Independent, yet deriving strength from togetherness. We would walk forever to overcome breast cancer, though the point of our journey is to shorten the road. Our song is filled with the weight of urgency, yet lifted by the lightness of joy. In the garden of our souls, commitment is tended by optimism. Surprise us in the quiet of our thoughts and you would find us thinking about victory, even when no victory is in sight. Because we are always looking ahead, to a place of health and long life--to the time we all dream of when we may cease our walking and begin to dance."

I Continue to Be Amazed

Even though this is the fifth time I have participated in this event, I continue to be amazed by the generosity of our supporters. I guess you never know the ways in which breast cancer has touched the lives of both those you know and those you don't until you're put in the somewhat uncomfortable position of asking for money. For me, that's always been the most difficult part of this event. But you haven't disappointed me, and for that, I am so appreciative.

Today, I would like to thank Robbie. As I said when I spoke with him a while ago, there are no words that can express how much his financial support for this event and his emotional support for the walk and for all things that are important to me have positively impacted my life. So I will keep it simple: Thank you, from the bottom of my grateful heart.

And I'd also like to thank his parents, Bob and Gerri, who have also made a donation today. They have raised a wonderful, unique, and kind son who brings me happiness every day. Thanks to their generosity, we're even closer to our goal--we're at over $1000 now!
