"We hold our heads high, standing tall but not standing still. Smiling, though faced with obstacles. Independent, yet deriving strength from togetherness. We would walk forever to overcome breast cancer, though the point of our journey is to shorten the road. Our song is filled with the weight of urgency, yet lifted by the lightness of joy. In the garden of our souls, commitment is tended by optimism. Surprise us in the quiet of our thoughts and you would find us thinking about victory, even when no victory is in sight. Because we are always looking ahead, to a place of health and long life--to the time we all dream of when we may cease our walking and begin to dance."

A Half-Dozen Miles Without Even Trying

Today was one of those days where I covered more than six miles, without even really trying. As a result of "going about hither and thither," as my sweet Grammy would have said, I added a few more miles to my training, although only in one or two-mile increments.

On another topic: While I think of it, I wanted to mention the many volunteer opportunities associated with the 3-Day. Even if you are not able to contribute to the walk financially, there are other ways to show your support. A few days ago, I mentioned the Crew and the integral role it plays during the walk. To learn more about being part of the Crew and volunteering, you can follow this link.
