"We hold our heads high, standing tall but not standing still. Smiling, though faced with obstacles. Independent, yet deriving strength from togetherness. We would walk forever to overcome breast cancer, though the point of our journey is to shorten the road. Our song is filled with the weight of urgency, yet lifted by the lightness of joy. In the garden of our souls, commitment is tended by optimism. Surprise us in the quiet of our thoughts and you would find us thinking about victory, even when no victory is in sight. Because we are always looking ahead, to a place of health and long life--to the time we all dream of when we may cease our walking and begin to dance."

Special Thanks to Two Friends from Home

Wow! Two more donations have come in, and Mom and I are now at $775, which is just about 13% of the total we need to raise before we walk in October. We're on our way!

Today, I'd like to thank two friends from Ridgewood, NJ, both of whom have since relocated to the DC area. Lynn has been a wonderful friend since our freshman year of high school, when we met in the orchestra. Most recently, we literally ran into each other on our way to our respective Arabic classes, after not having been in touch for nine years! Talk about a small world. Lynn, thank you so much for your support!

Dave and I have known each other since sixth grade Sunday school and survived through junior high, high school, and church youth group together. His parents have always been good friends to mine, and I'm really appreciative for his donation today.

Meanwhile, I walked six miles yesterday, and I've walked three miles so far today. Mom has continued her impressive work-outs at the gym. So, both on the fundraising front and the training front, I think we're making good progress. Thanks, everyone!
